Pantone Color of the Year 2025: Mocha Mousse
Each year Pantone releases its anticipated color of the year. The verdict is in and the 2025 Pantone Color of the Year is Mocha Mousse.
I’m writing this several weeks after the announcement was made. I’ve had time to reflect on this choice, and I’ve heard a lot of commentary about choosing brown as a color of the year. Personally, this is not my favorite color choice. I think a lot of people share my opinion on the color choice.
Using Mocha Mousse in jewelry designs
While this may not be my favorite hue, I do think there are still ways to incorporate mocha mousse into my jewelry designs this year. Initially, when I saw the color it immediately reminded me of smoky quartz gemstones. I love designing with smoky quartz in the fall, so I foresee including this gemstone in my annual fall jewelry collection. A quick gemstone search shows that jasper and some more neutral coral beads also fit the hue of Mocha Mousse.
Browns pair well with copper and bronze, so I would plan to incorporate this color with these metals. Again, this lends itself well to my autumn jewelry collection. Truthfully, I don’t design too much with brown unless it is autumn inspired.
Mocha Mousse in 2025
Mocha Mousse was chosen because, according to Pantone, it evokes our feeling of comfort. It will be interesting to see how this color is embraced (or not) this year. Regardless, I always enjoy the inspiration that these colors of the year offer.
