The way people find information on the intranet has changed dramatically. Now, anytime someone has a question they can merely type that question into Google and get all the answers they would ever need right at their fingertips. If you’re a jewelry maker, chances are you haven’t kept up with the changes Google and other search engines have made. Further, you probably don’t understand many of the common marketing abbreviations that are used. SERPs, SEO, Keywords, Hummingbirds, Panda, and AMP; consider this your marketing abbreviation guide for navigating the often complex world of search engine marketing (SEM). SEO: The common […]

A few weeks ago I had the honor of making custom bracelets for a few different friends to give as Mother’s Day gifts. Gift orders are something I really treasure making because they’re so personal and meaningful. When I get these orders, I take a lot of pride in my work and consider the whole task to be a responsibility; I want to make sure that I’m delivering something that not only the recipient will love, but also something the person giving the gift will love and take pride in. All the gifts I made were resin photo jewelry bracelets. […]

different inspiration. Jewelry making is so influenced by what I see in the world around me. Whether it’s what someone is wearing or what I see in the stores I often find myself wanting to replicate what I’ve seen when I sit down at my bench. Often in my jewelry designs, I try to do more. I add beads, a pendant, leather, and silver into a design that is beautiful and complex. Sometimes I need to remind myself that less is more when I design jewelry. I have so many different components in my studio that it’s impossible to see […]

Creating your own website is a grueling task that involves the proper planning, design work, and time. If you’re a physical store that sells a large amount of inventory, or a jewelry designer with a large number of lines and items, this decision can be even more critical for you; you’ll want to be sure that you’re selecting the best online store platform to create the best jewelry website online. While a variety of platforms will offer plugins that will allow you to sell your products online, if your final goal is to sell a large number of items and […]

I love making resin photo jewelry because it is always so meaningful to both the person I work with and the person who receives the final jewelry design. If you are anything like me, finding something special for your mother is hard to do. Over the years it gets difficult to find something that is meaningful. This year, why not make a photo collage bracelet for your mom. I love working with resin because it gives me the ability to create something completely unique. Because the medium starts as a liquid, it means that you can incorporate any mixed media […]

Inspiration. It’s the key whenever you start a project, be it a bracelet, necklace, earrings, or other handmade accessories. Many people may think that jewelry making inspiration comes second nature to jewelry designers, but this isn’t always the case. Nothing is worse than sitting down at my desk, staring up at all my beads, and drawing a complete blank on what to make. It’s overwhelming when you aren’t in the right mood. So what’s a girl to do when she’s surrounded by beautiful materials and can’t quite figure out how to combine them into a finished design? I’m not claiming […]

If you don’t have an online presence for your jewelry business, you’re missing out on a large group of potential customers. For this reason, you need to make sure you have one of the best jewelry websites online that you can. But with so many technicalities, it is easy to be overwhelmed, or even scared of having a jewelry website of your own. The good news is that today there are plenty of different options that allow you to create a mobile responsive, well-designed website without touching code if you don’t want to. Many website builders will allow you to […]

Regularly writing and publishing content is founded on the principle that you write engaging, preferably fantastic, content over, and over, and over again. Day in and day out, you need to produce valuable information that people will find engaging and useful and post it on a blog, in a white paper, in a presentation, and other engaging ways.  But what happens when writer’s block strikes? When you sit down at crunch time and stare at a blank screen and nothing happens?  Before you completely freak out or completely give up, either on the post or your content strategy entirely, take […]

My creativity tends to bloom in the spring. I think this is partially due to the warming temperatures (when your studio is in the garage, warmer weather is easier to work in) and by giving myself a rest I’m able to look at components in a new light. Many half-made designs have sat over winter and then been quickly pieced together in the spring. I have also found that I’m much more likely to incorporate color in the spring. Sometimes it can be hard to add color to your jewelry designs, but there is something about seeing blooming flowers that inspires […]

I am in love with data. I find joy in tracking information that is tangible. One of those tangible items I enjoy is to track website data. Nothing brings me more pleasure than seeing what people visit online, how they got there, what led them to your web page, and seeing any paths they may have taken once they got there. For this reason, setting up Google Analytics on my website was a top priority. One of the easiest and most robust programs you can use to track website data is Google Analytics. The best news about the program is it’s […]
