Tucson is THE place to visit in February as a jewelry designer, jewelry business owner, a person associated with gems or minerals, or anyone interested in any of the industries. It doesn’t matter if this is your first show or your 20th, if you’re planning to attend the Tucson shows in 2019, you’ll want to be sure that you attend with a plan. Here are a few tips to make the most of your trip to the Tucson Gem Show.

#1: Form a plan

It is very easy to be distracted when you get to Tucson. For this reason, take some time before you get there to research the different shows, which vendors are attending each individual show, and make a plan. The Tucson Show Guide is a great resource to help you do this research. Having a schedule will help you maximize the time you spend at the shows.

#2: Pre-register for the shows you want to attend

Once you know where to attend, hop online to see if you can pre-register for the shows. Standing in lines takes time, and when you’re trying to maximize your time there it feels like time wasted. Planning ahead will let you skip long lines and get into the show faster.

#3: Don’t go crazy at your first show

If you haven’t been to Tucson before, it’s very easy to spend a lot of money at your first show on items you can easily find elsewhere. If you see something you love at the first show and think you may find it elsewhere, take a card so you can connect with the vendor later. Or, make an effort to return if needed.

#4: Carry cash

Not every vendor will take a credit card. Make sure you carry cash with you in these instances. Cash is also a great way to stay on a budget if you need to, so don’t be afraid to carry cash to help self-regulate your spending.

#5: Stop and absorb

You will be in sensory overload at Tucson, and eventually, everything will start looking the same. When this happens, step away for a bit to do something else. Take advantage of a brewery, grab a meal, or stop by a show that’s different enough that you can simply enjoy the things you’re looking at. Taking time away can help you refocus when you do return to your list of shows.
