Each year Pantone, the color authority in the design world, reveals its color of the year. This year is no exception, and Pantone announced that the 2023 Pantone Color of the year is Viva Magenta.

Viva Magenta

Vivia Magenta is a vivid deep red color that is intended to stand out and evoke electric vibes. The last time a color from the red family was a color of the year was in 2015 with Marsala, a rich burgundy red color. Viva Magenta feels much more vibrant and uplifting. What a great color to evoke the spirit of 2023, where most feel so optimistic about returning to togetherness after COVID-19.

Designing with Viva Magenta the 2023 Pantone Color of the Year

I already loved incorporating magenta as an accent color in my jewelry designs. This year, I will plan to use this vibrant hue in a revival of my Pretty in Pink jewelry collection (more to come on that). For the warmer months, I can see viva magenta playing well in summer jewelry designs, and even my spring collection.

To capture this vivid color, red garnet is almost a perfect match in gemstone form. I also have several crystal beads that fit the color palette perfectly.

What’s great about the warmer hue of Viva Magenta is its versatility with metals. Paired with silver, the color is striking and will stand out beautifully. Paired with copper and gold, the color will match seamlessly. Even with organic materials like cords or leather, this color works well. It truly offers a vast variety of design potential.

Viva Magenta and my handmade jewelry designs

I can’t wait to begin to design jewelry using Viva Magenta as my starting point. How are you planning to incorporate this hue in your 2023 fashion? Are you planning to snag colorful accessories in this vibrant hue or go bolder by buying clothing in this color? Share your thoughts below!
